Precisely 10 years and one month after opening its first espresso store, California-born roasting corporate Equator Coffees opened its tenth store final week.
In Los Angeles’s Fairfax district, the brand new store may be the corporate’s 2d in Southern California, following the hole of a Culver Town outpost final March.
The B Corp corporate, which was once named the SBA’s Small Trade of the 12 months in 2016 and Roast mag’s Roaster of the 12 months in 2010, says it has plans to open 5 further Southern California shops.
Designed in collaboration with Los Angeles-based The Studio For, the brand new 860-square-foot Fairfax location is awash in Equator’s signature pink and black palette. The store’s eating house can accommodate 14 visitors, with furnishings made by way of native craftspeople in addition to customized work of art by way of Los Angeles boulevard artist Corie Mattie. The rear of the store can open to an outside patio with seating for an extra 20 visitors.
Espresso drink choices in Fairfax are supported by way of Mahlkönig E65 and E80 grind-by-weight grinders along a L. a. Marzocco KB90 coffee system.
The Fairfax menu contains Equator’s core namesake and Tigerwalk coffee blends, single-origin pourovers and rotating seasonal drinks. Choices within the latter class recently come with a blackberry cream chilly brew and “The Habibi,” an espresso-and-milk drink with orange blossom water, cardamom, clove and vanilla syrup. The store additionally gives breakfast entrees, toasts, sandwiches and salads.
Ten % of gross sales from the store’s opening week are being donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Heart.
